Why you’ll love it:

This strawberry banana blueberry smoothie is super simple with just five ingredients! I keep them in my fridge and freezer at all times so I can whip this smoothie up on a whim.

It’s naturally sweet and refreshing with a burst of blueberry flavor. It’s also low calories and high in protein! Win, win. Unsweetened Greek yogurt adds protein without any extra sugar, while berries pack it with antioxidants.

I like to enjoy this banana strawberry blueberry smoothie for breakfast with my eggs, but it also makes a great mid-afternoon snack! It helps me get over the groggy afternoon slump and gives me a boost of energy.

Key Ingredients:

greek yogurt, almond milk, banana, frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries.

Banana – Bananas are naturally sweet and creamy, which makes them a great base for smoothies! Be sure to use a yellow, ripe banana for the best flavor. Underripe bananas aren’t as sweet and taste a little chalky. I always keep two bunches of bananas on the counter for smoothies. If they start to ripen before I can use them, I slice and freeze them.

Frozen strawberries – I buy a big bag of frozen strawberries at Costco. Frozen strawberries taste great in virtually any smoothie so it’s good to have extra. Make sure you use frozen ones as they thicken the smoothie!

Frozen blueberries – For a burst of blueberry flavor. Again, use frozen blueberries for a thick and frosty smoothie. If you only have fresh, you can freeze them yourself. Just pop them in a zip-top bag and freeze overnight.

Greek yogurt – I keep unsweetened Greek yogurt in my fridge at all times. It makes any fruit smoothie ultra-creamy, plus it adds protein! You can swap it with any kind of yogurt you have or like. Or for a vegan option, swap with coconut yogurt.

Milk – Any type of milk works great! Plant-based or regular. Whole milk and unsweetened almond milk are two of my favorites. Just use whatever you have. Coconut milk does add a slight coconut flavor though.

How to Make a Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie:

This blueberry strawberry banana smoothie is a breeze to make! That’s why I adore smoothies SO much.

Here’s what you need to do:

Combine ingredients: In the pitcher of a high-speed blender, combine the banana, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, Greek yogurt, and milk of choice.

Recipe Tips:

  • If you want to use fresh strawberries, use a frozen banana. Add more liquid if necessary until you achieve the desired consistency.
  • To make this smoothie into a smoothie bowl, reduce the liquid to 1/2 cup. Scrape the sides of the blender as necessary, then blend again. Scoop into a bowl, then add your favorite toppings!
  • For best results, use a high-speed blender. A powerful motor with super sharp blades gives you a creamier blend! I’ve had a Ninja for 10+ years and have no complaints.
  • Smoothies are very forgiving! For a thicker smoothie, add more frozen fruit. For a thinner one, add more liquid.

Variations:

  • Vegan – Swap the Greek yogurt with vegan yogurt and plant-based milk.
  • Yogurt – Use any flavor and type you like!
  • Oats – For added whole grains and texture, add 1/4 cup of rolled oats. It gives a slightly oatey flavor and makes it more filling!
  • Greens – Add a handful of baby spinach for a boost of iron, antioxidants, and fiber!
  • Nut butter – Add a spoonful of nut butter for added plant-based protein and a nutty flavor!

Storage:

This strawberry blueberry smoothie is best enjoyed fresh! Technically, you can store smoothies in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but the frosty texture changes.

Since smoothies only take 5 minutes to make, I highly recommend making them fresh. However, if I can’t finish my smoothie I don’t want to waste it so I make it into smoothie pops!

Pour the smoothie into popsicle molds, add popsicle sticks, and freeze overnight. Enjoy on a hot summer day! They taste the best once they start to get melty.
