Why you’ll love it:

This raspberry blueberry smoothie is super refreshing! It’s slightly tart from the raspberries and the banana adds a bit of creaminess without overpowering any of the fruit.

I like my smoothies on the tart side, but you can add some honey to sweeten it up! This blueberry raspberry smoothie makes one small glass, but you can easily double it to make a bigger one.

I like to serve it alongside my eggs for a major boost of antioxidants! Berries are a great source of antioxidants and plant compounds that protect your cells against free radicals and oxidative stress.

Key Ingredients:

banana, milk, blueberries and raspberries.

Banana – I used half a banana for creaminess! For a less tart smoothie, you can use a whole one. Or if you can’t have bananas, swap it with vanilla yogurt.

Frozen blueberries – Blueberries taste great in smoothies, but I think they taste best when paired with another berry/fruit. I used half and half with raspberries for a sweet-tart punch.

Frozen raspberries – One of my favorite smoothie additions! Raspberries add a tart flavor and vibrant color. If the flavor is too tart for you, add a little honey to mellow it out.

Milk of choice – Any kind of milk works great – plant-based or regular. I used unsweetened almond milk this time. Just be sure to use one you know you like the flavor of. Almond and cashew milk are two of my favorite plant-based varieties.

How to Make a Raspberry Blueberry Smoothie:

This raspberry and blueberry smoothie is a breeze to make!

Combine ingredients: In the pitcher of your blender, combine the banana, blueberries, raspberries, and milk.

banana, milk, blueberries, and raspberries in a blender.

Blend: Blend until creamy and smooth! Adjust the consistency as desired. If you like it thinner, add a splash more milk. If you like it thicker, add a few ice cubes or frozen blueberries. Blend again to incorporate.

Recipe Tips:

  • Smoothies are very forgiving! Adjust the flavor as you see fit. If you like it sweeter, add a touch of honey. If you want it creamier, add the rest of the banana, etc. It’s your smoothie and your the boss!
  • If possible, use a high-speed blender. Blueberries have skins and they blend better in a high-speed blender with a powerful motor and super sharp blades. For a budget-friendly option, buy an older model that’s on sale.
  • Adjust the consistency as desired. I prefer my smoothies thick but pourable. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again to incorporate. If it’s too thin, add more frozen fruit and blend again.
  • This makes a small smoothie! If you prefer a larger one, just double the ingredients and blend as directed.

Variations:

  • Banana – For a creamier texture, use a whole banana. It will also be sweeter with more banana.
  • Yogurt – If you’re allergic to bananas, swap it with vanilla yogurt. Start with 1/3 cup, then add more as desired.
  • Fruit – Swap either the blueberries or the raspberries with frozen strawberries!
  • Sweetener – Add a teaspoon or two of honey or maple syrup.
  • Liquid base – I prefer to use milk in this one for creaminess and less sugar, but juice works too! Just use whatever juice you have on hand.

Health Benefits of Berries:

Berries are a superfood that give smoothies a serious nutritional boost! They have tons of health benefits, some of which are:

  • Antioxidants – Berries are jam-packed with antioxidants that keep free radicals under control. Several studies have confirmed that they reduce oxidative stress in the body!
  • Vitamins & minerals – They contain immune-boosting vitamin C, Manganese, vitamin K1, copper, and folate.
  • Fiber – Fiber keeps you feeling full longer!
  • Good for your skin – Berries contain ellagic acid which prevents your skin’s collagen from getting damaged.
