Mango Strawberry Banana Smoothie
This strawberry mango banana smoothie is refreshingly sweet and creamy with tropical vibes! It’s kid-friendly and a breeze to make. Perfect for a nutritious breakfast or afternoon snack.
Why you’ll love it:
It’s no secret I love a smoothie with tropical vibes, but this strawberry banana mango smoothie is a fave! Even my kiddos ask for it. And they are extremely picky for little people.
Greek yogurt makes it ultra creamy and adds a boost of protein. This strawberry mango banana smoothie is only five simple ingredients and it’s easy to customize!
You can easily make it dairy-free by swapping the yogurt with vegan yogurt or add a handful of spinach for extra nutrients.
Key Ingredients:
Banana – Bananas are budget-friendly and perfect for smoothies. They’re naturally sweet and creamy which creates a smooth texture. Be sure to use ripe, yellow bananas for the best flavor. Bananas are a good source of potassium and fiber.
Frozen mango – Frozen mango thickens the smoothie without the need for ice. Mangoes are rich in immune-boosting vitamin C and protective antioxidants. Plus they’re naturally sweet and refreshing. Frozen mangoes are already peeled, cored, and chopped!
Frozen strawberries – For that juicy strawberry flavor! Use frozen strawberries to thicken the smoothie. If you only have fresh, peak-season strawberries, you can hull and freeze them on a sheet pan.
Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt is a great addition to smoothies. It adds protein and creaminess. I use unsweetened yogurt since the mango and banana add plenty of sweetness.
Almond milk – My favorite liquid base! It’s low in calories, neutral in flavor, and creamy too. You can use any kind of milk in this recipe, regular or plant-based.
How to Make a Strawberry Banana Mango Smoothie:
Combine ingredients: In the pitcher of a blender, combine the banana, frozen mango, frozen strawberries, Greek yogurt, and almond milk.
Blend: Blend until thick and smooth. The smoothie will be thick at this point. Add a splash more almond milk until you reach the desired consistency. Blend to incorporate.
Serve: Pour into two glasses and enjoy immediately!
Recipe Tips:
- A high-speed blender gives you the creamiest blend. If you can’t afford a Vitamix, try a budget-friendly option like a Ninja. Try to find a blender with at least a 1000-watt motor.
- This smoothie doesn’t need ice. Frozen fruit thickens it without making it icy or watering it down.
- Adjust the consistency to fit your preference. I like my smoothies thick so I make them on the thicker side then add extra milk at the end.
- Feel free to double the recipe. This recipe makes two small smoothies or one regular sized one. For a huge smoothie or more servings, you can double it.
Variations:
This mango strawberry banana smoothie is easy to customize! Try one of these simple variations:
- Greens – Add a handful of baby spinach. Spinach adds iron, insoluble fiber, carotenoids, folic acid, and calcium. It’s hardly noticeable with the mango and strawberries.
- Fruit – Swap the strawberries with frozen pineapple, raspberries, or peaches.
- Chia seeds – Add a tablespoon of chia seeds for plant-based protein and healthy fats. Or two tablespoons of ground flax.
- Oats – Add 1/4 cup of rolled oats. Rolled oats add a slightly chewy texture and oatey flavor.
- Yogurt – Swap the Greek yogurt with a dairy-free alternative.
- Milk – Swap the almond milk with dairy milk, cashew milk, soy milk, or oat milk.
Storage Tips:
Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh and frosty cold! Technically you can store this smoothie in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but I always recommend enjoying them immediately.
I do love to make smoothie pops! If you have leftover smoothie, pour into a popsicle mold, add popsicle sticks, and freeze overnight. Enjoy on a warm sunny day! These pops are best once they get a bit melty.
FAQs:
Yes, strawberries and mangoes are rich in fiber, disease-fighting antioxidants, and immune-boosting vitamin C! Strawberries are also a good source of manganese, folate, and potassium.
If you want to use fresh mango and strawberries, use a frozen banana instead of a fresh one. It’s important to use frozen ingredients to thicken the smoothie!
